The Passport Hotel debuts in Assagaon, Goa with a cocktail-led hospitality concept

A new boutique stay redefines experiential travel in North Goa

The Passport Hotel has opened in Assagaon, North Goa, introducing a 27-key boutique property that places cocktails, community, and local exploration at the centre of the guest experience. Founded by hospitality entrepreneur Ashesh L. Sajnani, the hotel positions itself as a cocktail-forward traveller’s destination, blending social interaction with immersive neighbourhood discovery.

Concept rooted in cocktail culture and community

Drawing from his experience in shaping Mumbai’s cocktail scene with Please Don’t Tell (PDT), Sajnani brings a similar philosophy to Goa. The hotel moves away from conventional hospitality formats, instead focusing on shared experiences, conversation, and curated interactions between travellers and locals. The concept reflects a broader shift towards community-driven and experience-led hospitality models.

Strategic location in Assagaon’s cultural hub

Situated on Badem Church Road in Assagaon, the hotel benefits from its placement in one of North Goa’s most vibrant neighbourhoods. Known for its cafés, design studios, bars, and creative community, the location encourages guests to step beyond the property and engage with the local ecosystem rather than remain confined within a resort environment.

Spaces designed for social interaction

At the core of the hotel is Mini Bar, a lobby bar that replaces the traditional reception experience. Guests check in over a welcome drink, setting an informal and social tone. The space functions as a neighbourhood-style bar, complemented by music and small plates.

The rooftop venue, Layover, features a pool and bar overlooking Assagaon’s landscape, designed for relaxed gatherings and evening experiences. Meanwhile, Jet Lag offers a more intimate indoor setting for cocktail workshops, curated tastings, and private discussions.

Passport Program enhances guest exploration

A key highlight is the hotel’s Passport Program, where guests receive a physical booklet at check-in. The program maps a curated list of cocktail bars across Goa, encouraging visitors to explore the region, interact with bartenders, and collect stamps. This initiative transforms travel into a participatory and collectible experience, linking hospitality with local culture.

Rooms designed for comfort and personal experiences

With 27 rooms, the property maintains an intimate scale. Select accommodations include plunge pools and jacuzzis, while others feature DIY cocktail setups, allowing guests to craft their own drinks. The rooms are designed to balance leisure and functionality, catering to both relaxation and work.

A slower, experience-driven approach to travel

Beyond accommodation, the hotel hosts jazz evenings, cocktail sessions, and community events that bring together travellers, creatives, and industry professionals. The overall philosophy emphasises slow travel, encouraging guests to engage deeply with the destination rather than follow conventional itineraries.
