IHCL signs Taj Patna, expanding luxury hospitality presence in Bihar
Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has signed Taj Patna, a 500-key greenfield luxury hotel project located opposite Gandhi Maidan in Patna, Bihar. Developed in partnership with Patliputra Palace Pvt. Ltd., the hotel will feature multiple dining outlets, a 16,000 sq. ft. ballroom, extensive meeting facilities and Taj’s signature J Wellness Circle spa. The signing reflects IHCL’s strategy to expand in high-growth urban markets. With this addition, the company’s portfolio in Bihar will grow to seven hotels, including four currently under development.
Strengthening IHCL’s footprint in Eastern India
Indian Hotels Company Limited has announced the signing of Taj Patna, a major greenfield luxury hotel project in Patna. The upcoming property will operate under the iconic Taj Hotels brand and is set to significantly expand the group’s presence in the state.
With this signing, IHCL’s portfolio in Bihar will increase to seven hotels, including four currently under development, reinforcing the company’s long-term growth strategy in emerging urban markets.
Prime location near Gandhi Maidan
The 500-key Taj Patna will be developed opposite the historic Gandhi Maidan, one of the city’s most prominent landmarks. The site also offers views towards the River Ganges, giving the hotel a strategic and scenic location within the city.
The project is being developed in partnership with Patliputra Palace Pvt. Ltd., further strengthening the collaboration between the two organisations.
Luxury hospitality and large-scale event infrastructure
The upcoming Taj hotel will feature 500 rooms and suites, designed to serve business travellers, leisure guests and large-scale events.

According to Puneet Chhatwal, Patna is emerging as one of India’s fastest-growing urban centres, supported by infrastructure development and improved connectivity.
He noted that the new Taj hotel will cater to the city’s growing demand for premium hospitality, large-scale events and business travel, while reinforcing IHCL’s commitment to expanding in high-potential markets across India.
