Summit Hotels Expands North Bengal Portfolio with Two Boutique Resort Signings in Siliguri and Darjeeling
Summit Hotels & Resorts signs two 30-room boutique properties in North Bengal—Siliguri and near Darjeeling—focusing on nature-led hospitality and experiential stays in a growing tourism corridor.
Introduction
Summit Hotels & Resorts has strengthened its footprint in Eastern India with the signing of two boutique properties in North Bengal. The expansion targets the high-growth Siliguri–Darjeeling tourism corridor, known for its rising demand in experiential and leisure travel.
Project Overview
The hospitality group has announced Summit Gulma River Resort in Siliguri and Summit Falling Water near Darjeeling. Both properties will feature 30 rooms each and are positioned as boutique, experience-driven stays.
The Siliguri resort is expected to open on 15 August, while the Darjeeling property is slated for launch in early January 2027.
Summit Gulma River Resort, Siliguri
Located in the Gulma area, the resort will overlook a tea estate and a river, offering a tranquil setting close to the city.
The 30-room property will include standard rooms and studio formats with kitchenettes, catering to both short and extended stays. Facilities will include a restaurant, bar, spa, fitness centre, and a banquet hall with a capacity of around 150 guests, making it suitable for social events and small gatherings.
Summit Falling Water, Near Darjeeling
Situated in Rangbull, just before Darjeeling town, Summit Falling Water is designed as a nature-integrated retreat. The concept draws inspiration from architecture that blends seamlessly with natural surroundings.
Built around a flowing stream, the hotel will offer 30 rooms with private balconies overlooking the hills and water. A unique highlight is its proximity to the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, allowing guests to experience views of the iconic toy train passing nearby.
Strategic Significance
The twin signings reflect Summit Hotels’ strategy to deepen its presence in North Bengal by focusing on boutique formats that emphasize location-driven experiences.
With increasing demand from leisure travellers, destination weddings, and experiential tourism, the region continues to emerge as a key growth market in Eastern India’s hospitality landscape.
Leadership Perspective
Sumit Mitruka, Founder of Summit Hotels & Resorts, highlighted the brand’s focus on immersive stays rooted in local surroundings. He noted that the aim is to create properties where the destination itself becomes central to the guest experience, whether through tea garden landscapes or hillside retreats integrated with natural elements.
Conclusion
With these two additions, Summit Hotels & Resorts continues to build a differentiated portfolio in North Bengal, leveraging the region’s natural appeal and growing tourism demand to strengthen its boutique hospitality positioning.
