Sula Vineyards Expands Wine Tourism Ambitions with Chandon Estate Acquisition in Nashik
Sula Vineyards has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Chandon’s 19-acre wine estate in Dindori, Nashik. The acquisition enhances production capacity and strengthens Sula’s wine tourism portfolio with premium infrastructure, including a visitor centre and vineyards. The move supports the company’s long-term strategy to expand in high-potential wine regions and develop a landmark wine tourism destination.
Strategic Acquisition in India’s Wine Capital
Sula Vineyards Limited has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Chandon’s wine production facility and estate in Dindori, Nashik. The move marks a significant step in strengthening its position in India’s premium wine and wine tourism segments.
Building a Scalable Premium Platform
Spread across 19 acres, the estate includes a modern wine production facility with an annual capacity of 4.5 lakh litres, scalable up to 13 lakh litres. The property also features a visitor centre, banquet space, and around 5 acres of vineyards, creating a strong foundation for a premium wine tourism destination.
Operational Continuity and Location Advantage
Sula plans to begin operations of the estate’s hospitality and tasting facilities immediately upon handover, ensuring seamless continuity. Located about 20 minutes from Nashik Airport and close to Sula’s existing wineries in Dindori, the estate offers operational synergies and improved accessibility, particularly with anticipated infrastructure growth linked to upcoming events in the region.
Transaction Structure and Transition
The acquisition is structured as an asset purchase, covering land, buildings, and winemaking infrastructure, while excluding brand assets. The deal is being executed through Sula’s wholly owned subsidiary, Artisan Spirits Private Limited, and is expected to close by the end of Q1 FY27, subject to regulatory approvals. Post completion, Sula will market wines produced at the estate under its own portfolio.
Strengthening Wine Tourism Leadership
The acquisition aligns with Sula’s long-term strategy to expand its wine tourism footprint. With Dindori recognised for premium grape cultivation and Nashik already established as a leading wine destination, the company aims to further elevate experiential offerings and develop a new landmark wine tourism hub.
Leadership Perspective
Rajeev Samant, Founder & CEO of Sula Vineyards, noted that the acquisition presents a rare opportunity to integrate a world-class estate into its portfolio. He emphasised the potential to build on existing infrastructure and enhance Sula’s presence in Dindori, supporting the next phase of growth in wine tourism and premium wine production.
