Sterling Holiday Resorts Expands Himachal Presence with Sterling Nirmaya Dharamshala

Sterling Holiday Resorts has expanded its leisure portfolio in North India with the opening of Sterling Nirmaya Dharamshala, a contemporary Himalayan retreat overlooking the Dhauladhar mountain ranges.

The launch marks Sterling’s sixth property in Himachal Pradesh and reinforces the brand’s strategy of building interconnected leisure circuits across key hill destinations.

A Contemporary Himalayan Retreat Above the Kangra Valley

Career Background

Located above the Kangra Valley, Sterling Nirmaya Dharamshala is designed as a relaxed yet vibrant mountain escape catering to family holidays, small groups, and intimate celebrations. The resort blends scenic surroundings with a social, food-led hospitality experience, encouraging guests to connect with both nature and each other.

Accommodation includes thoughtfully designed rooms and suites, each featuring private sit-outs that offer uninterrupted views of the valley and surrounding mountains.

Food-Led Social Experiences and Shared Spaces

Food and beverage form the heart of the resort experience. Mezban, the all-day dining restaurant, serves a mix of Indian favourites, Himachali-inspired dishes, and global comfort cuisine. Ignis, the rooftop bar, is set to a sunset and evening social hub, offering panoramic Himalayan views under the open sky.

Key Achievements

The property also features a rooftop infinity swimming pool, curated common areas, and Summit, a flexible events venue suitable for meetings, workshops, and small celebrations.

Access to Culture, Spirituality, and Outdoor Exploration

Situated close to McLeod Ganj, the resort provides easy access to Dharamshala’s cultural and natural attractions, including monasteries, local markets, Bhagsu Waterfall, Triund trek, and nearby adventure destinations such as Bir Billing. The location allows guests to seamlessly combine leisure stays with cultural exploration, spiritual travel, and outdoor activities.

Leadership Perspective on the Expansion

Current Role & Responsibilities

Commenting on the launch, Vikram Lalvani, Managing Director & CEO, Sterling Holiday Resorts, said that Sterling Nirmaya Dharamshala is a strategic addition to the brand’s Himachal Pradesh portfolio. He added that Dharamshala plays a pivotal role in connecting Sterling’s presence across the state, enabling curated multi-destination journeys that blend culture, spirituality, leisure, and the outdoors with consistent service standards.

Partner Vision Behind the Retreat

Sharing her perspective, Nitasha Jamwal, Managing Director of Nirmaya, said that the vision for the property was to create a refined Himalayan retreat that attracts guests from across India. She noted that partnering with Sterling was a natural choice due to the brand’s deep understanding of India’s leisure travel market and its ability to combine local character with national scale.

Strengthening Sterling’s Leisure Network

With the opening of Sterling Nirmaya Dharamshala, Sterling Holiday Resorts continues to expand its footprint across India’s hill destinations, strengthening its Himachal Pradesh circuit while building immersive, interconnected leisure experiences for modern travellers.
