Shangri-La Bengaluru has announced the appointment of Rakesh Ramachandran as its new Director of Events, marking the return of a seasoned hospitality professional to the Shangri-La portfolio. With more than 20 years of experience spanning events, catering, group business, and food & beverage operations, Rakesh brings a balanced blend of operational depth and commercial acumen to the role.

A career shaped by operational excellence

Rakesh began his hospitality journey in Food & Beverage Service, where he developed a strong grounding in service standards, team leadership, and large-scale event execution. Over the years, he has held senior leadership positions with leading hospitality brands such as The Leela Palace Bengaluru, Sheraton Bangalore, Conrad Pune, and Shangri-La Colombo. Notably, he was also part of the pre-opening team at Shangri-La Bengaluru, giving him a strong understanding of the hotel’s culture and operational framework.

Expanding perspective through catering and sales leadership

Before rejoining Shangri-La Bengaluru, Rakesh served as Director of Sales at Foodlink F&B Holdings. In this role, he strengthened his expertise in strategic sales planning, client engagement, and high-impact catering solutions, further enhancing his ability to align guest expectations with business performance.

Driving the next phase of events at Shangri-La Bengaluru

As Director of Events, Rakesh will lead the hotel’s events and conventions portfolio, with a focus on innovation, personalised experiences, and service excellence. His comprehensive understanding of weddings, corporate conferences, and large-format social events is expected to further elevate Shangri-La Bengaluru’s positioning as a preferred destination for landmark gatherings in the city.
