Radisson Hotel Group Enters Coorg with Dual Resort Signing — Expands Leisure Portfolio in South India

Radisson Hotel Group has announced its entry into Coorg, strengthening its presence in India’s fast-growing leisure destinations through a dual resort signing under the Radisson Individuals Premier brand.

Dual Signing Establishes Presence in Coorg

The Group has signed Purple Mist Resort & Spa Coorg, A Member of Radisson Individuals Premier, alongside Purple Palms Resort & Spa Coorg, which will be repositioned under the same brand.

This combined development marks a strategic entry into Coorg, a destination driven by nature-based tourism and increasing demand for experiential stays. The dual-resort approach enables the Group to establish immediate scale while diversifying its offering within a single micro-market.

Asset Details and Guest Offering

Purple Mist Resort & Spa Coorg will feature 102 rooms, including 98 standard rooms and four suites. The resort is planned with an all-day dining restaurant, a lobby lounge, banquet spaces with pre-function areas, a fitness centre, and a spa.

Purple Palms Resort & Spa Coorg, a 78-room property, will undergo conversion and repositioning. The resort will include two restaurants, a banquet hall, a boardroom, and wellness facilities such as a gym and spa.

Together, the two properties will offer a combined inventory of 180 rooms, catering to a broad spectrum of demand including leisure stays, destination weddings, corporate off-sites, and social gatherings.

Strategic Focus on Leisure-Led Growth

According to Nikhil Sharma, Managing Director and COO, South Asia at Radisson Hotel Group, the dual signing reflects a differentiated strategy to build scale in high-demand leisure markets. He highlighted that the model allows the Group to address both individual travellers and large-format events while aligning with the rising preference for destination-led experiences.

Development Strategy and Market Expansion

Expanding on the Group’s regional growth approach, Davashish Srivastava, Senior Director, Development, South Asia at Radisson Hotel Group, noted that the entry into Coorg supports its broader strategy of strengthening presence across key business and leisure hubs in South India. The inclusion of a ready-to-operate asset alongside a new development accelerates market penetration and enhances distribution reach.

Ownership Perspective on Destination Positioning

From the ownership standpoint, N Viswanathan, Managing Partner of SLN Hotels & Resorts, stated that the partnership aims to deliver a hospitality offering aligned with the natural character of Coorg while integrating global standards. The proximity of the two resorts is expected to create a cohesive hospitality cluster, positioning the destination for both leisure travellers and large-scale events.

Conclusion

The dual signing in Coorg underscores Radisson Hotel Group’s focus on expanding its resort portfolio in India through flexible development models. By combining a new-build and a conversion under the Radisson Individuals Premier brand, the Group is building a scalable presence in a destination defined by experiential travel demand.
