NRAI Bengaluru Pushes for Alternate Fuel Solutions Amid LPG Challenges
The National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) Bengaluru Chapter convened industry stakeholders at Skydeck by Sherlocks to address ongoing LPG-related challenges and explore viable alternate fuel strategies for the food and beverage sector.
Addressing Supply Constraints and Rising Costs
The session focused on persistent LPG supply disruptions and increasing operational pressures faced by restaurant operators. Discussions highlighted the need to reduce reliance on a single fuel source and adopt diversified energy solutions to ensure business continuity.
Industry-Led Dialogue and Insights
The session opened with remarks by Dheeraj Kumar, Director at Knowhere Bar and Kitchen, setting the tone for a solution-oriented dialogue.
Ananth Narayan, Head of the NRAI Bengaluru Chapter, outlined the association’s ongoing efforts to support members while addressing the operational challenges arising from fuel constraints.
He emphasised the importance of exploring practical alternatives such as piped natural gas (PNG), biogas, and other emerging solutions to mitigate risk and manage costs.
Focus on PNG and Infrastructure Readiness
A dedicated session led by Sanjay Kumar Singh, Chief General Manager at GAIL, provided insights into PNG adoption for commercial kitchens. The discussion covered infrastructure readiness, implementation pathways, and key considerations for restaurants transitioning away from LPG.
Showcase of Alternate Fuel Innovations
A key highlight of the event was an interactive showcase of alternate fuels and cooking technologies. Industry solution providers demonstrated a range of options aimed at reducing dependence on conventional fuels.
Presentations included biogas solutions, PNG applications, and coal-based cooking systems, alongside technology-led innovations such as AI-enabled automation designed to support LPG-free kitchen operations.
Collaborative Approach to Industry Challenges
The meeting underscored the importance of collaboration between industry stakeholders, policymakers, and solution providers in addressing fuel-related challenges. It also reflected the growing urgency for restaurants to adopt sustainable and resilient energy strategies.
Strategic Significance for the F&B Sector
The initiative by the NRAI Bengaluru Chapter highlights a broader industry shift towards diversification of energy sources in response to supply volatility and cost pressures. As the F&B sector evolves, access to reliable and sustainable fuel solutions will remain critical to operational stability and long-term growth.
