Marriott’s Autograph Collection Debuts in India with NoorMahal Karnal

Introduction

Marriott International has introduced its design-led Autograph Collection Hotels in India with the opening of NoorMahal, Delhi NCR Karnal. Located along the historic Grand Trunk Road, the 176-room property marks the entry of Marriott Bonvoy’s 19th brand in the country and expands its South Asia portfolio to 235 hotels.

Brand Debut in the Indian Market

The launch signals the arrival of Autograph Collection Hotels in India, a brand positioned around individuality, design, and a strong sense of place. The debut aligns with evolving traveller preferences, where guests increasingly seek culturally rooted, experience-driven stays.

By introducing its 19th brand in India, Marriott International continues to deepen its portfolio, responding to demand for differentiated hospitality formats across key markets.

Strategic Location and Architectural Identity

Situated in Karnal along the Grand Trunk Road, NoorMahal, Delhi NCR Karnal is positioned to cater to both leisure and transit travellers across North India.

The property reflects a blend of Mughal, Rajput, Punjabi, and Persian influences, with architectural elements such as domes, arches, and intricate jali work. Interiors combine traditional craftsmanship with contemporary layouts, supported by a curated collection of art and artefacts that reinforce its heritage-led positioning.

Guest Accommodation and Signature Suites

The hotel features 176 guestrooms and suites designed with a mix of classical Indian aesthetics and modern amenities. Rich textiles, bespoke furnishings, and structured layouts define the guest experience.

Signature accommodations, including Raja Niwas and Khwabgah, are designed as penthouse-style suites with expansive living areas, private terraces, and personalised service, catering to premium travellers.

Dining and Culinary Experiences

Dining at the property spans four distinct venues. Frontier Mail offers North-Western frontier cuisine, while Colonel Saab serves a mix of Indian and international dishes in an all-day dining format. The Polo Bar provides a cocktail-led experience, and The Cake Factory focuses on desserts and bakery offerings.

This multi-venue approach supports both in-house guests and destination diners, enhancing the hotel’s positioning within the regional hospitality landscape.

Wellness, Recreation, and Guest Experiences

The hotel integrates wellness and recreation through a spa, fitness centre, and outdoor swimming pool. Additional offerings include a kids’ play area and outdoor activities such as tennis, pickleball, ziplining, and rock climbing.

A signature brand experience includes a vintage portrait session inspired by royal court traditions, reinforcing the storytelling-led philosophy of Autograph Collection Hotels.

Event and Wedding Infrastructure

NoorMahal, Delhi NCR Karnal offers extensive indoor and outdoor event spaces, positioning it within the weddings and social events segment. Large lawns such as Rani ka Bagh and Raja ka Bagh accommodate large gatherings, while indoor venues like Sheesh Mahal and Darbar Hall support conferences and private functions.

Ownership and Collaboration

The property is owned by Manbeer Choudhary along with Binny Choudhary and Kr Roop Partap Singh. The collaboration with Marriott International brings global brand standards together with a heritage-led asset, creating a distinctive hospitality offering in the region.

Leadership Perspective

Kiran Andicot, Senior Vice President, South Asia, Marriott International, noted that the brand’s entry reflects growing demand for design-led, culturally immersive stays in India. He highlighted that NoorMahal, Delhi NCR Karnal embodies the brand’s philosophy of individuality and strong sense of place.

Mahesh Singh Jasrotia, General Manager, emphasised the property’s focus on delivering refined hospitality through curated experiences and bespoke service tailored to North India’s cultural context.

Strengthening Portfolio Strategy in India

The debut of Autograph Collection Hotels in India reflects Marriott International’s strategy to introduce differentiated brands that cater to evolving guest expectations. As demand shifts towards experience-driven hospitality, the launch of NoorMahal, Delhi NCR Karnal underscores the growing relevance of design-led, heritage-inspired hotels in the Indian market.
