Introduction
Mai Mai, the modern East Asian kitchen known for its intimate, storytelling-led dining, has launched its second outlet on MG Road, Bengaluru. Building on the success of its Indiranagar space, the new opening marks the brand’s next phase of growth while preserving its core philosophy of warmth, craft, and guest connection.
A Thoughtfully Designed Dining Space
The new outlet features a 35-cover layout with a mix of indoor and outdoor seating, designed to feel more social while retaining an intimate ambience. A defining element of the space is its open kitchen, which occupies nearly half of the area, enabling operational efficiency and offering diners a direct view into the culinary process.
The layout ensures a seamless interaction between the kitchen and guests, reinforcing the brand’s focus on transparency and craftsmanship.
Menu Evolution with Signature Continuity
Mai Mai continues to build on its existing menu while introducing new dishes. Popular offerings such as Korean Bibimbap, Egg-wrapped Fried Rice, and Scotch-kissed Mousse remain central to the experience.
New additions include Mala Oil Wontons, Goguma Karaage, Char Sui Roast Pork, and Ginger Scallion Steamed Fish. The menu also features sizzling stone bowls, noodles, and desserts like the Forest Cherry Rum Cake. The evolving menu approach is expected to extend across both outlets.
Curated Beverage Program
The beverage offering, curated by Ganga Gahle, focuses on a balanced mix of wine, sake, and soju, complemented by cocktails and non-alcoholic options. Signature drinks include Mai Mai Picante, Golden Sakura Spritz, and Yuzu Blossom Spritz, alongside a range of sake styles such as Ginjo and Junmai.
The program also caters to non-alcoholic preferences with options like Yuzu Old Fashioned and Salted Caramel Coffee.
Founders’ Perspective on Expansion
Co-founders Yash and Megha Bhatia highlighted that the expansion has been shaped by guest feedback and evolving operational needs. They emphasised that while the new space introduces additional elements, it continues to reflect the brand’s core values of comfort, warmth, and thoughtful design.
They also noted the importance of creating a kitchen environment that supports the team, recognising that the guest experience begins with the people behind it.
Strengthening Presence in Bengaluru’s Dining Landscape
With its MG Road launch, Mai Mai expands its presence in Bengaluru’s competitive dining market. The new outlet reflects a measured growth approach, balancing scale with a consistent and personalised guest experience.
The expansion reinforces the brand’s positioning as a design-led, experience-driven East Asian dining concept that continues to evolve while staying rooted in its original identity.
