IHCL Signs Gateway Hotel in Hyderabad, Expanding Brand Portfolio to 50 Hotels

Indian Hotels Company Limited has announced the signing of a new Gateway hotel in Somajiguda, Hyderabad, marking the brand’s debut in the city. The 225-key project, which will operate under the Gateway Hotels & Resorts portfolio, is a conversion development and strengthens Gateway’s growing presence across India. With this addition, the Gateway brand portfolio expands to 50 hotels across operational and pipeline properties.

Gateway Expands Its Footprint in Hyderabad

The upcoming Gateway Somajiguda, Hyderabad will be located in one of the city’s prominent commercial and residential districts. Somajiguda is known for its proximity to major corporate offices, healthcare institutions, and retail hubs, making it a strategic location for both business and leisure travellers.

The signing also marks the Gateway brand’s entry into Hyderabad, reinforcing IHCL’s expansion strategy across key metropolitan markets in India.

Leadership View on Gateway’s Growth

According to Leah Tata, the Gateway brand continues to grow by positioning its properties as cultural and experiential touchpoints within each destination.

She noted that the re-imagined Gateway concept focuses on creating a “Gateway to a Destination”, where hotels connect guests to the local culture, traditions and experiences of the location. This positioning has enabled the brand to rapidly scale its portfolio while catering to rising demand across metro cities, state capitals, and major commercial centres.

IHCL has partnered with D. Siva Rama Raju and DVS Soma Raju for the development of the property.

Hotel Facilities and Guest Experience

The 225-room Gateway Somajiguda, Hyderabad is designed to cater to both business and leisure travellers with a range of hospitality and lifestyle amenities.

Key planned features include:

• All-day dining restaurant

• Specialty restaurant

• Bar and lounge

• State-of-the-art fitness centre and health club

• Swimming pool and treatment rooms

The hotel will also include extensive meetings and events infrastructure, featuring 11 banquet halls supported by multiple meeting rooms. The largest banquet space will span approximately 10,000 square feet, positioning the property as a strong venue for conferences, weddings, and corporate gatherings.

Owners’ Perspective on the Partnership

Project partners D. Siva Rama Raju and DVS Soma Raju expressed confidence in the collaboration with IHCL, highlighting their shared goal of introducing a refreshed hospitality experience in the Somajiguda area.

Strengthening IHCL’s Presence in Telangana

With the addition of this hotel, IHCL’s footprint in Telangana will expand to eight properties, including three hotels currently under development. The expansion reflects IHCL’s broader strategy to strengthen its presence in key Indian urban markets through both greenfield and conversion projects.
