Hyatt Expands India Footprint with Dual Brigade Group Signings in Chennai and Bengaluru

Introduction

Hyatt Hotels Corporation has strengthened its India growth strategy with the signing of two new properties in partnership with Brigade Group, targeting both leisure and business travel segments. The developments—Grand Hyatt Chennai ECR and Hyatt House Bengaluru Devanahalli—underscore Hyatt’s continued focus on high-demand urban and resort markets across the country.

Hyatt Partners with Brigade Group for Strategic Expansion

Hyatt has entered into management agreements with Brigade Hotel Ventures Limited (BHVL) and BCV Developers Private Limited, both part of Brigade Group, to develop two distinct hospitality offerings in South India. These projects reflect a dual-market approach—one catering to premium leisure and events, and the other to extended-stay business travellers.

Grand Hyatt Chennai ECR to Anchor Coastal Luxury Segment

The upcoming Grand Hyatt Chennai ECR will be a beachfront property located along the East Coast Road, with an expected opening in 2029. Designed as a large-format luxury hotel, the project will feature approximately 200 rooms along with multiple dining outlets, wellness amenities, and expansive event spaces.

Positioned to serve weddings, conferences, and leisure stays, the hotel aims to strengthen Chennai’s appeal as a destination for both MICE and upscale tourism. Its coastal location is expected to further enhance its positioning within the city’s evolving hospitality landscape.

Hyatt House Bengaluru Devanahalli Targets Extended-Stay Demand

In Bengaluru, Hyatt House Devanahalli is slated to open in 2027 as a serviced apartment-style property with around 135 keys. Strategically located near Kempegowda International Airport, the hotel will cater to the fast-growing Devanahalli business and technology corridor.

The development will focus on extended stays as well as short-term visits, offering facilities such as dining spaces, meeting rooms, a fitness centre, and recreational amenities. The project aligns with rising demand for flexible accommodation formats in India’s key business hubs.

Leadership Insights Reflect Market Confidence

Nirupa Shankar, Managing Director, Brigade Hotel Ventures Limited, highlighted that the Chennai project marks Brigade’s first collaboration with Hyatt and is envisioned as a landmark hospitality asset. She emphasised the project’s potential to elevate Chennai’s positioning for large-scale events and leisure travel.

Amar Mysore, Director, BCV Developers Private Limited, noted that the Hyatt House brand is well-suited for Devanahalli’s evolving ecosystem, driven by proximity to the airport and upcoming commercial developments.

Hyatt Reinforces Growth Strategy in India

Dhruva Rathore, Vice President of Development, India & Southwest Asia, Hyatt, stated that both Chennai and Bengaluru remain high-priority markets with strong demand fundamentals. The new signings align with Hyatt’s broader strategy to expand across key destinations, balancing luxury, lifestyle, and extended-stay offerings.

Strengthening Presence Across Leisure and Business Markets

With these additions, Hyatt continues to deepen its presence in India through a diversified portfolio approach. The Chennai project strengthens its leisure and events footprint, while the Bengaluru development addresses the growing need for long-stay accommodations in emerging business districts.
