Strengthening people leadership across a growing region

Hyatt has announced the appointment of S Vidyashankar as Regional Vice President of Human Resources for India and Southwest Asia. In this strategic leadership role, he will oversee the company’s people strategy across the region, supporting Hyatt’s expanding portfolio while reinforcing its culture-first approach to growth.


A career anchored in people and performance

With over 23 years of experience in hospitality human resources—more than two decades of which have been with Hyatt—Vidyashankar brings deep institutional knowledge and a strong track record in building resilient teams and leadership capability. His career spans multiple properties across India, giving him extensive exposure to multi-location HR leadership and operational environments.


Driving leadership development and talent strategy

In his new role, Vidyashankar will work closely with regional and hotel leadership teams to strengthen leadership pipelines, nurture internal talent, and embed consistent, future-ready people practices. His mandate also includes fostering an inclusive workplace culture aligned with Hyatt’s purpose and values, while ensuring agility as the brand continues to scale in the region.


Extensive regional and multi-property experience

Prior to this appointment, Vidyashankar served as Area Director of Human Resources, leading HR operations for 18 hotels across six states. His experience spans hotel pre-openings and transitions, talent management, statutory compliance, trade union negotiations, and industrial relations—critical capabilities for a rapidly expanding hospitality market.
