Holiday Inn Property Announced for Dhangadhi, Nepal

IHG Hotels & Resorts has partnered with Club Chaulani Ltd. to establish a Holiday Inn in Dhangadhi, introducing the brand to Nepal's Sudurpashchim Province. The 115-room hotel is set to welcome guests in early 2028.

Border City Location

Dhangadhi's positioning near the India-Nepal frontier makes it a natural stopover point for travelers moving between the two countries. The hotel site sits within the urban core, about 8.5 kilometers from the airport, offering access to both business districts and leisure destinations in the region.

Nearby points of interest for visitors include Shuklaphanta National Park, known for wildlife viewing, along with Ghodaghodi Lake and Shivpuri Temple. The location caters to multiple traveler profiles, from corporate visitors to holidaymakers exploring western Nepal.

Hotel Features

The development plan includes 115 rooms complemented by multiple dining venues—a main restaurant operating throughout the day, a specialized dining outlet, and a bar adjacent to the pool area. The fourth food and beverage space will round out the culinary offerings.

Event infrastructure will comprise various-sized meeting rooms plus a larger ballroom space. Recreational provisions include workout facilities and a swimming pool for guest use.

Development Partners' Views

Sudeep Jain from IHG's South West Asia division noted Dhangadhi's advantages including better transportation links, expanding commerce across the border, and rising visitor numbers. The hotel is designed to serve corporate clients and tourists alike.

Club Chaulani Ltd.'s Dr. Rajendra K.C. spoke about introducing global hospitality standards to Dhangadhi as the city develops commercially. The collaboration brings IHG's operational expertise to deliver quality accommodation experiences.

Market Context

Holiday Inn's worldwide footprint spans more than 1,200 hotels, established through decades of serving travelers. The brand has built its reputation on dependable service across international markets.

This Dhangadhi project aligns with IHG's approach of identifying South Asian cities where hotel supply hasn't kept pace with economic activity. Such locations present opportunities for recognized brands to establish early presence.

Nepal's regional urban centers are attracting hospitality investment as road infrastructure improves and domestic travel grows. Dhangadhi's proximity to the border adds international business traffic to the guest mix, broadening potential revenue sources.

The 2028 launch date provides sufficient time for comprehensive development and operational preparation, ensuring the property enters the market ready to meet evolving demand patterns.
