EHL Hospitality Business School Secures B Corp Certification, Strengthening Commitment to Sustainable Education

Introduction

EHL Hospitality Business School has achieved B Corp Certification, marking a significant step in its sustainability journey and reinforcing its commitment to responsible education and industry leadership.

Milestone in Sustainability Commitment

EHL Hospitality Business School has been awarded B Corp Certification, recognising its efforts to align business practices with high standards of social and environmental responsibility. The certification reflects the institution’s long-term approach to integrating sustainability into both its academic framework and operational philosophy.

Rather than viewing the achievement as a final milestone, EHL positions it as part of an ongoing process to continuously evolve its impact and influence future hospitality leaders.

Strong B Impact Score and Global Positioning

EHL recorded a B Impact Score of 98.5, significantly exceeding the minimum threshold of 80 required by B Lab. With this achievement, the institution joins a global community of over 10,300 certified organisations, including a select group in Switzerland.

Within the higher education sector, only a limited number of institutions worldwide have attained this certification, placing EHL among early adopters driving sustainability within academic environments.

Rigorous Certification Standards

The B Corp Certification evaluates organisations across governance, environmental impact, social responsibility, and transparency. As part of the process, EHL incorporated stakeholder governance into its decision-making framework, ensuring that outcomes consider not only shareholders but also students, employees, communities, suppliers, and the environment.

The evaluation also includes comprehensive due diligence processes, including disclosures and impact assessments, all of which EHL successfully completed.

Leadership Perspective

Markus Venzin, CEO of EHL, emphasised that the institution’s mission has always centred on people and long-term value creation. He highlighted the importance of equipping future leaders to address environmental and social challenges, noting that institutions must demonstrate the principles they teach through their own actions.

Driving Industry-Wide Impact

EHL aims to extend its influence beyond academia by contributing actively to the global B Corp community. Through knowledge sharing, transparency, and collaboration, the institution seeks to encourage the broader hospitality and service sectors to adopt more sustainable practices.

The certification also requires periodic reassessment, ensuring that EHL continues to improve its performance across environmental, social, and governance parameters.
