Apeejay Surrendra Park Hotels Limited (ASPHL) has entered into a hotel management agreement with Luxmi Tea Co Private Limited to develop THE Park Siliguri, a 100-room hotel planned within the historic Chandmani Tea Estate in Siliguri, West Bengal.
The upcoming hotel is expected to blend contemporary hospitality with the heritage of the region’s tea estates, positioning itself as a unique destination for leisure and business travellers visiting North Bengal and the Eastern Himalayan corridor.
Development under West Bengal’s Tea Tourism Policy
The project will be developed under the Tea Tourism Policy of the Government of West Bengal, which encourages tourism initiatives within tea estate regions to promote sustainable economic growth.
Spread across approximately 3.25 acres, the hotel is currently in the planning phase and is expected to be completed by March 2031.
By integrating hospitality infrastructure with tea estate landscapes, the development aims to enhance tourism experiences while supporting regional employment and skill development.
Strategic location in the Eastern Himalayan gateway
Siliguri is widely regarded as a strategic gateway to Sikkim, Darjeeling, Bhutan, and the wider Eastern Himalayan region.
The proposed hotel will be located approximately 12.7 kilometres from Bagdogra Airport, making it easily accessible for domestic and international travellers.
Given Siliguri’s growing importance as a centre for tourism, logistics, and trade in eastern India, the project is expected to contribute to the city’s expanding hospitality ecosystem.
Expanding ASPHL’s Himalayan corridor presence
The signing also strengthens ASPHL’s presence across the Eastern Himalayan tourism belt.
The group already operates hospitality properties in the region including:
-
Zone by The Park Darjeeling
-
Zone Connect by The Park Gangtok
The Siliguri project further strengthens the company’s strategic focus on high-growth tourism corridors in eastern India.
Leadership perspective on the project
Commenting on the signing, Priya Paul, Chairperson of Apeejay Surrendra Park Hotels Limited, highlighted the region’s potential as a tourism hub.
She noted that Siliguri offers strong opportunities to create a destination that celebrates the heritage of tea estates while introducing the brand’s signature design-driven hospitality experiences. The development is also expected to support the region’s MICE potential and generate employment opportunities for local communities.
Partner vision for regional tourism development
Rudra Chatterjee, Managing Director of Luxmi Tea Company Private Limited, emphasised that the partnership reflects the company’s long-term commitment to Siliguri and North Bengal as emerging tourism destinations.
He added that the initiative will also focus on skill development and hospitality training, helping young professionals from the region build careers within the industry while contributing to the broader local economy.
Strengthening ASPHL’s footprint in West Bengal
The signing further reinforces ASPHL’s strong presence in West Bengal, where the brand’s hospitality journey first began in 1967.
The company currently operates multiple properties across the state, including THE Park Kolkata, along with several hotels under the Zone by The Park and Zone Connect by The Park brands.
With the upcoming THE Park Siliguri, ASPHL continues to expand its portfolio in eastern India while supporting tourism growth in emerging destinations.
