150-Key Midscale Hotel to Serve Pilgrimage, Weddings, and MICE Demand

Accor has announced the signing of Novotel Vrindavan, reinforcing the group’s expansion strategy in North India and marking its entry into one of India’s most significant spiritual and cultural destinations. The hotel is scheduled to open in 2029 and will be managed by Accor.

The signing aligns with Accor’s focus on strengthening its midscale portfolio in high-growth leisure, religious, and event-driven markets across the country.

Project Overview and Positioning

Career Background

Novotel Vrindavan will be a 150-key new-build hotel developed on a site spanning approximately 6,222 square metres, with an estimated gross floor area of around 14,000 square metres. Designed in line with Novotel’s contemporary brand ethos, the hotel will cater to year-round demand generated by pilgrimage tourism, destination weddings, and large-format social and corporate events.

The property aims to offer a balanced hospitality experience suited for families, business travellers, and group gatherings.

Meetings, Events, and Guest Facilities

Key Achievements

A key highlight of the project is its strong focus on meetings and events infrastructure. The hotel will feature a 1,000 square metre ballroom, supported by multiple meeting rooms, positioning it as a prominent venue for weddings, conferences, and social celebrations in the region.

Additional planned facilities include an all-day dining restaurant, a lobby lounge and bar, a specialty restaurant, a fitness centre, spa facilities, and a swimming pool, creating a comprehensive offering for both short and extended stays.

Accor Leadership Perspective

Current Role & Responsibilities

Commenting on the signing, Ranju Alex , said that Vrindavan’s growing importance as a spiritual, cultural, and events destination makes it a strategic market for the Novotel brand. He noted that the project represents an important step in Accor’s strategy to deepen its footprint in high-potential destinations across India, while delivering high-quality service and strong MICE infrastructure.

Development Partner View

The hotel is being developed by Girijas Retreat Private Limited. Shobhit Kumar Arora, Director, Girijas Retreat Private Limited, stated that the partnership with Accor will help address the rising demand for professionally managed, high-quality hospitality infrastructure in Vrindavan as the destination evolves beyond pilgrimage into a broader tourism and events hub.

Supporting Accor’s India Growth Strategy

With the signing of Novotel Vrindavan, Accor continues to build momentum in North India, strengthening its midscale portfolio while responding to the growing convergence of spiritual tourism, leisure travel, weddings, and large-scale events in emerging destinations.
